Hola! Wos Wit? You have found the Miranda Experience. Where Pa. Dutch and Puerto Rican culture have fused together to form the Miranda family. I've created this blog to humor myself and hopefully humor some of you out there as well. Here you will find everyday occurances of our lives. Sometimes it will be interesting to you and other times not so much. But it's our lives and we are glad to share it with you.

Turkey Hill........
So a couple weeks ago Edwin and his brother and sisters volunteered to help run a food stand for an event sponsored by Turkey Hill. They manned the food stand while Edwin's other sister and his mom made the food back at there resturant. That was same day as the evangelism seminar so I wasn't able to help. I did come later in the day and it looked like everyone was having a great time. People were commenting on how great the food was and how professional the stand was. As you can see in the one picture Rico was having a good time sitting behind the stand watching a video on the little DVD player. He was happy.

nuttin much..........
I know it's been awhile since I've posted. There isn't much really to say. Lazy days of summer. Not much happening at the Miranda household. It's been nice though I'm thoroughly enjoying not working at the cafeteria for the summer. Our vacations are finished no more vacation days left for Edwin. Maybe we'll get to the beach yet for a day. Rico has extended school year. That means that for about 6 times a teacher comes over once a week and tutors Rico so he doesn't lose some of the skills he learned and have to play catch up when school starts again in the fall. I must say though Rico has never really had a problem with that. He has a good memory. But it's good for him to have the tutoring we are glad for it. Orientation is coming up for Noah next week at M.U. He also started going to the young adults caregroup and he's liking it. Girls are still doing basketball. And that's about it. Sorry for the uneventful post. But uneventful is good at times. =)

All Star Game.........
Our family my dad, and my two sisters went to the All Star Barnstormer game last night. It's always fun to be at the Clipper. We were glad the rain stopped to get the game in. But in the top of the 8th it started to pour and the put the tarp on the field. They eventually called the game. The South was behind which was the team the Barnstormers were on so we lost. All the mascosts from the teams represented were there some of them were cute but none were as good as Cylo.
When we came into the Clipper there was a Gold man as you can see in the picture. He was a live statue. He was so cool looking. At the end the rain let up enough to put off the scheduled fire works and that's how the evening ended.

the picnic
For the second year in a row the first Sunday after the 4th of July my mom's side of the family and her sisters side of the family get together for a baseball picnic.
Our families grew up beside each other as kids and we spent a lot of time at the ball field down the road from where I lived. My Aunt provides the main part of the meal and we all bring a side dish. We have some rousing games of ball and eat throughout the day ending up with a hot dog roast at night. It's a great time reliving our child hood and teaching our kids the fun of playing ball together. We all enjoy it. Even though it was a hot day there was a great breeze throughout the day and my Aunt and Uncle have a great shade tree in the back to sit under. Edwin did a funny thing. Way back in the day of the beginning of what is now Crossway church. We used to have a church baseball team with uniforms and everything. I used to be the score keeper. It was a lot of fun watching our guys play. Well, my hubby can still fit in his uniform and he came out to play with it on. We all had a great laugh over that. It was a little bit tighter around the belly but other then that he was looking good. Funniest and most surprising moment of the day was when the kids had a water battle fight. In the midst of it my Aunt Fannie when inside the house and came out with her personal super soaker water gun and started blasting the kids including her own sons who were just sitting minding there own business. It was so funny and out of character. Great memories.

a little blue........
I'm not feeling so good. Summer cold as they call it I guess. Edwin has it and so now I have it. Tummy feels icky, I feel tired and something doesn't feel right with my nose and throat. Anyway this is nothing compared to the heartache and pain the Haughery's are going through. I know we are all praying for them. God is in control and I'm thankful for that and his grace is sufficient.

play bball at your own risk....
As I said in an earlier post my girls are now playing summer basketball. Last night was the first game they could play since the season started a couple weeks ago. We are anxious to get this party started. We go to where the rec league plays Bri plays at 7 and Bella plays at 8. Bri and team is warming up and 7 comes and goes. Hmm the opposing team doesn't show. Now this wouldn't have been so bad except for the fact the Bri was at Hershey Park for the day and the plan was for Edwin to pick her up at the park for the game that was the deal. Well of course Bri called and wanted to stay at H.P. for the evening as well and of course we said no cause she committed to bball and that's what we are doing. So now there is no game. That was a bit of a struggle for Bri but we talked it through. Next is Bella's game her team shows up they play she plays well end of game all is well. Edwin and the girls decided to stay and watch another team play. I took Rico and went home. Not long after I get home here comes Edwin. I'm thinking wow they must have got bored fast. But no that wasn't the situation. Seems the story goes like this. Not long after the game they were watching started two girls come running through the park saying something about there is going to be a gang war and some are caring firearms. Uhh nice! Meanwhile Edwin sees young men coming into the area from different directions and sure enough they are all gathering in the parking lot. Immediately the refs says that's it everyone get your stuff and get out. So that was it everyone high tailed it out of there. Eventually the cops came. But not fast enough Edwin stated cause by the time they got there the gang dispersed cause of all the attention I guess.
Anyway kind of weird. I wonder what kind of impact this will have on the families that come there to play. Will they still come? We will see.

the party.........
This past Sunday we had Noah's graduation party at my parents home. I don't know about you but I always get a little nervous when I have a gathering because you want everything to go well and everyone to have a good time. My prayers were answered and the day went well, not like I planned but it went very well I thought. Including children 46 people came. We did invite 80. And I received one response saying they could not come so that makes pretty many people who did not respond. Needless to say I had a lot of barbecue left over but it will freeze and we will certainly eat it no loss there. It's been several years that we have wanted to buy a volley ball net the party was the incentive we needed and we now own one. We had a nice game of volley ball going on and it was fun to watch. My parents have a pool table and ping pong in there basement so some took advantage of that. And some played cards as well.
And of course sitting around chatting and eating was definitely happening too.
My sisters and nieces were a big help to me. I get by with a little help from my friends........It was a good day and Noah was blessed so the goal was achieved. Yeah!
